Krishnagiri: A 21-year-old youth died but in a way he will live much longer. Now, his heart beats in the chest of a teenager who was among six others who received life saving transplant from the youth.

“I accepted to donate his organs because he will live in the body of others though he is no more my son,” says 50-year-old Rajappan, a farmer and grieving father of the victim.

On Friday, 21-year-old R. Santosh, a photographer and native of Kakkadasapuram village in Krishnagiri was admitted in a private hospital in Bengaluru in neighbouring Karnataka.

He was taken to the hospital for grievous injuries he sustained after skidding off from his two-wheeler at Mookandapalli, on Chennai-Bengaluru national highway. Santosh entered into coma and later he was declared as brain dead.

The NGO working for creating awareness about the organ donation approached his relatives for donating his organs. His father after coming to know that Santosh could help others to be alive if his organ was donated, accepted the proposal.

The heart was transplanted to a teenager in the hospital where Santosh
died. Five others also benefitted from this organ donation.
