Warangal: Joint collector's CC caught taking bribe of Rs 45,000

The CC of the joint collector Tajuddin demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from Anil to help him get the rice bags released.

Warangal: Jayashankar Bhupalpally district joint collector’s CC Md Tajuddin was on Wednesday caught red handed by ACB sleuths while receiving a bribe of Rs 45,000 from a lorry driver. The incident took place when the the joint collector K. Swarna Latha was in her office. According to ACB DSP Bhadraiah, Tajuddin demanded and accepted the money from a lorry driver Janne Anil, a resident of Warangal.

The Mulugu police seized the lorry which was transporting rice bags last September. However the High Court ruled that the lorry and the 162 quintal rice had to be returned to Anil.

While the lorry driver managed to take possession of the lorry, the rice was still not returned to him. He went from pillar to post to get the rice bags he was transporting released, but to no avail.

The CC of the joint collector Tajuddin demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from Anil to help him get the rice bags released.

The two came to an agreement and finalised the deal at Rs 45,000. The lorry driver informed the ACB officials about the official. Accordingly the officials laid a trap and nabbed the official.
