Hyderabad: The High Court may decide on Friday on whether the bodies of the four accused killed in the Disha rape and murder case encounter are to be preserved or handed over to their families. The bodies have been preserved at the Gandhi Hospital.

One of the petitioners who had approached the High Court over the Shadnagar encounter in which the accused were killed, made a mention on Thursday before bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan that the bodies may be handed over to the family members for cremation.

He submitted that the Supreme Court had directed the petitioner to approach the High Court for such relief. After hearing him, the court directed the petitioner to file an affidavit and posted the case to Friday.

The bodies were initially stored at the Mahbubnagar General Hospital and were brought to the Gandhi Hospital last week on court orders.

The encounter was carried out on December 6, and the family members are trying to perform the last rites.
