Applicants of welfare schemes in dilemma over poll outcome

Warangal: People from various sections in Warangal district, who had applied for welfare schemes, are in a confused state of mind.  They are in dilemma on whether to continue having faith in the BRS party so that they can continue to avail the scheme benefits or believe the Congress party and its six guarantees.

A fisherwoman Kanakamma of Kumarpally in Hanamkonda, who applied for kalyana lakshmi scheme after performing her daughter’s marriage, told Deccan Chronicle that her application for the scheme was approved but the amount was not released as the election dates were announced. She said that local BRS leaders had assured that she would get the sanctioned amount if the BRS returned to power.

Venkateshwarlu, a goldsmith from Hanaparthy mandal, who had applied for BC Bandhu, said that applications of only a few people were approved in the first phase. Local BRS leaders promised him that his application would be cleared in the second phase, after the elections.

“But what will happen to our applications if the BRS loses and a new party comes to power,” he wondered.

Padmaja from Bheemaram village, who had applied for Gruha Lakshmi, alleged that instead of pushing applications of the real beneficiaries, the local BRS leaders and some sarpanches had enrolled their names and availed the benefits in the first list. Now they are asking us to vote for the BRS party for availing the scheme, Padmaja said.

Meanwhile, political analysts said that not only the applicants but people from various sections are in a dilemma on whom to back between BRS and the Congress.

In case the Congress party forms the next government, then they have to apply freshly for the schemes introduced by that party. Either way, the applicants must face problems, they opined.
