Body of K'giri soldier killed in Haryana comes home

He died in a mishap that occurred in Haryana.

KRISHNAGIRI: The wait for a family here that is mourning the death of its son ended after three days with the arrival of the soldier’s body to his native village in Dharmapuri district.

The remains of 29-year-old C. Siva came to his native Kaveripuram village near Kadathur in Dharmapuri. He died in a mishap that occurred in Haryana.

His body reached Bengaluru airport from Chandigarh and was then transported in a defence vehicle to his native village by road. Siva’s body reached his home on Wednesday night.

Siva served as a soldier in the army camp in Ambala district of Haryana, where he met with an accident on July 14. He was on duty with a team that was trying to pull out a defence vehicle that got stuck. Others at the place rescued the badly injured Siva and took him to the Army hospital in Chandigarh. He died on Monday.

Siva’s body was buried at his village. He is survived by his 22-year-old wife Poovizhi whom he married in January 2016, his 48-year-old mother Mari, widow of Chinnasamy, his 22-year-old younger brother Kumar and 24-year-old married sister Jayalakshmi.
