GHMC marks Harithotsavam, plants saplings

HYDERABAD: The GHMC celebrated Harithotsavam with gusto on Monday. Initiated by the civic body’s urban biodiversity department, the mass plantation was the feature of ‘Haritha Haram’ marking the tenth state Formation Day celebrations.

Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, participating in an event at MLA Colony in Banjara Hills division, planted saplings. She said that GHMC’s efforts had helped Hyderabad get global recognition as a green city.

N. Prakash Reddy, director (enforcement), along with staff, took part in amass plantation programme at the EV&DM, parking lot.

In Nagarjunanagar Colony, Tarnaka, deputy mayor Srilathashobhan Reddy took the lead. She said, “Following the introduction of Haritha Haram, there has been a 7.7 per cent increase of greenery in Telangana.”
