Adilabad hoc doctors at RIMS put a spoke in recruitments

The administrators of RIMS convinced them with temporary recruitment and adjustments of doctors during the second inspection by the MCI.

There is a huge shortage of doctors in the clinical side and this was by the Medical Council of India (MCI) during its first inspection. RIMS administrators convinced them by recruiting doctors on a temporary basis.

Adilabad: The state government is recruiting a number of new employees for teaching and doctor posts in Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences ( RIMS), Adilabad.

The posts will be filled through TSPSC by the director of medical education.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has announced that the posts at RIMS, Adilabad, need to be filled.

News is making the rounds in RIMS that some of the doctors who were appointed on ad hoc basis are trying to create problems in the recruitment process by lobbying with the administration to not show the vacancies at RIMS to the DME. This way the doctors will continue working on ad hoc basis without fresh regular recruitment for the vacant posts.

During the Telangana agitation, the local agitators and local doctors had obstructed the recruitment of the doctor and teaching faculty when Ahmed Babu was the district collector.

There is a huge shortage of doctors for the clinical side and this was found by the Medical Council of India (MCI) during its first inspection.

The administrators of RIMS convinced them with temporary recruitment and adjustments of doctors during the second inspection by the MCI.

Finally, RIMS got MCI’s clearance for the next five years of MBBS.

It is time for recruiting of doctors for the regular posts at the RIMS when the hospital is coming up with a super speciality wing in addition to the existing RIMS.

There is a strong opinion among the medical fraternity that medicos are not being trained at the clinical and non- clinical side as part of their MBBS course because of the huge shortage of teaching faculty and doctors.

Some doctors are questioning the authority of the TSPSC to conduct recruitments for the doctor posts for the director of medical education. With the increase in outpatients there is pressure on the existing doctors in some departments working at the RIMS.
