Erode district takes 2nd slot in results

Salem: Achieving an overall 95.23 per cent passes in the Tamil Nadu Board Plus-2 exams, the results for which were declared on Friday, Erode educational district has retained its second slot at the state-level.

Of the 24,316 students from 214 schools who sat for the Plus-2 exams in Erode di trict in March this year, 23,155 boys and girls came out successful, clocking an overall pass percentage of 95.23 for the district, official sources said.

Though the overall pass percentage for Erode district this year is slightly lower than 96.35 per cent it had achieved in 2018, this educational district continues to be at 'number two' position among all the districts in Tamil Nadu.

In Salem educational district, the overall pass percentage was 90.64 per cent, including for government, state-aided, matriculation and private schools.

In all 35,549 passed out successfully this year from Salem educational district from 318 schools. Girls continued to outperform the boys in the Plus-2 exams.

In neighbouring Namakkal district, the overall pass percentage this year has been an impressive 94.97 per cent. On the whole, the western districts continue to share the top honours in performance in the state board Plus-2 results.
