Constable, car driver die in Telangana accident

Another probationary police sub-inspector who was in the vehicle has sustained grievous injuries.

Bengaluru: A police constable, attached to the HAL police station, and the car driver died when the car they were travelling in rammed onto a divider in Shamshabad district of Telangana. Another probationary police sub-inspector who was in the vehicle has sustained grievous injuries.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the police officials were heading to Hyderabad to trace a girl, who was reported missing. The case has been filed at the HAL police station.

The deceased have been identified as constable Suresh (26) from Athani in Belagavi and the car driver, Jayanna (32), a resident of HAL Layout. Srinivas Doddamani (27) has suffered severe injuries and is being treated at a hospital in Telangana.

The two police officials were heading to Hyderabad to trace Priyanka (20), a B.Tech student, who has been missing for the last two months. Investigations revealed that she had eloped with her boyfriend who was a student of another college.

Based on a tipoff, the investigating officials on Tuesday found out that Priyanka and her boyfriend were in Hyderabad, after which Suresh and Srinivas left Bengaluru in an Innova vehicle for Hyderabad.

The police said that the accident occurred around 6 am. The passersby who saw them lying in a pool of blood rushed them to a nearby hospital where doctors declared Suresh and Jayanna brought dead. The bodies of the deceased are being brought to Bengaluru.
