Hyderabad: Ambulance rams into lorry, 4 killed

Sources said the deceased were farmers from Guntur district who were going to Anantapur.

Anantapur: In a tragic incident, four persons were killed and another suffered serious injuries when an ambulance in which they were travelling rammed into a stationery lorry on the National Highway 44 near Gooty under Peddavadugur police station limits. The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday. Sources said the deceased were farmers from Guntur district who were going to Anantapur.

According to the police, the Anantapur-based ambulance was hired by a family in the town to take a patient at a hospital in Kurnool. After dropping the patient at the hospital, the driver picked up four passengers at Dhone railway station in Kurnool district on his way back to Anantapur.

After the ambulance crossed Gooty, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed the vehicle into a lorry that was parked on the Bengaluru highway.

Police said the deceased were from Narasaraopet in Guntur district. The injured person was shifted to a local hospital.
