KOZHIKODE: Student outfits on Monday took out 'Vathaka March' on Farook Training College against an assistant professor's derogatory and misogynistic speech about girl students. They rallied separately under ABVP, SFI and KSU banners and staged a demonstration before the college gate. Jauhar Munavar, the assistant professor, spoke at a family counselling session at Elettil Vattoli in Kozhikode that his Muslim students are not covering chests with hijab but showing it like a ripe piece of watermelon. The video circulated on the social media evoked severe criticism. It shows the teacher lambasting girls wearing leggings and holding their purdah deliberately up to show them off.
He warned that this immoral dress style would deny them both material and spiritual world. Meanwhile, principal Dr C.A. Jawahar said there was no action against the teacher as there was no complaint. "The reported speech was outside the campus at a private function. I was told that a portion of the speech was selectively being circulated," he told DC.
