Hyderabad: University of Hyderabad student union will organise a protest on Monday against the proposals of the 78th Academic Council.

Students said the council would discuss a hike in fee, a cut in the number of seats, and raise their demands.

Students have been demanding withdrawal of a UGC gazette notification, which slashes admissions into M.Phil and PhD programmes of the university.

Kuldeep Negi, UoH Student Union President said, “We demand the Academic Council to expand the faculty recruitment for ensuring faculty-student ratio instead of making the universities inaccessible to students from marginalised sections by the reduction of seats. We also demand rejection of a 10 per cent fee hike every alternative year and want the implementation of Prof. Sukhadeo Thorat committee report.”
