Hyderabad: Wife denies booze money, man ends life

Satyam, a daily wage labourer, got addicted to alcohol and was spending his earnings to buy liquor.

Hyderabad: A 36-year-old man, who was addicted to alcohol immolated himself after his wife denied him money to buy liquor. The man person succumbed to his injuries at Gandhi Hospital on Tuesday.

According to Medipally sub-inspector B. Srinivas, P. Nagamma of Muthvelliguda village married P. Satyam in 2003. The couple has two children both aged under 14. Satyam, a daily wage labourer, got addicted to alcohol and was spending his earnings to buy liquor.

“Due to Satyam’s habits, he and his wife were quarrelling. On Monday afternoon, he picked up a quarrel with her as she refused to give money for liquor,” said the police. Satyam who was already under the influence of alcohol set himself ablaze with petrol.

Medipally police booked a case under Section 174 of IPC based on his wife’s complaint.
