KOZHIKODE: JDT College of Arts and Science, Vellimadukunnu, known for union without political interference, on Friday held a programme on their campus in solidarity with Sreejth, who is protesting for years in front of the Secretariat seeking action against police officers whom he holds responsible for the custodial death of his brother Sreejeev.

The students, who organised the gathering titled ‘Aikyadardya Sadass’ said that they do not prefer to add colour of politics to the single-man protest by a brother and that they would wish to stand by him wholeheartedly.

“It is highly demanding that the protest should not get hijacked by any political party and the cause should be highlighted,” said Thasneem Muhammed, union fine arts secretary. “The plight of these youngsters can be repeated anywhere and we should stand by them. The union of the college purposefully decided not to invite political leaders to this function.” Union chairman Badal Basheer presided.
