Madras HC directs Deepa, Deepak to verify J Jayalalithaa's properties

The bench also directed Deepa and Deepak to verify whether any of the properties are left out from the list filed before this court.

Madras high court has directed the DGP to ensure that the attendance of investigating officers in the court during the hearing.

Chennai: The Madras high court has directed J.Deepa and J. Deepak, niece and nephew of former chief minister late J.Jayalalithaa, to verify as to whether the properties disclosed by Jayalalithaa in the affidavit filed before the Election Commission and the properties shown in the judgment of the Supreme Court in disproportionate wealth case, are correct or not. A division bench comprising Justices N. Kirubakaran and Abdul Quddhose gave the directive and posted to January 2, 2019, further hearing of the appeal filed by K.Pugazhendi against an order of a single judge, dismissing his petition.

The bench also directed Deepa and Deepak to verify whether any of the properties are left out from the list filed before this court. If it is so, give the list of the properties which have not been disclosed either in the affidavit filed before the Election Commission or in the judgment of the Supreme Court in disproportionate wealth case, the bench added.

Originally, Pugazhendhi, the South Chennai District Deputy Secretary of J.Jayalalithaa Peravai and one P.Janakiraman of Nesapakkam had filed petitions to appoint them as administrators to administer the properties of Jayalalithaa worth over '913 crore. Justice C.V.Karthikeyan had dismissed the petitions. Aggrieved, Pugazhendi filed the present appeal.
