Hyderabad: Cops to counsel men roaming at night

The cops, including women police constables, who have been selected for the job, from next weekend, will wear a special red colour jacket with imprint tourist police' on it.

Hyderabad: Following the recent incident of a brutal murder of a young social activist for recording the video of trouble mongers about two days ago, the Shamshabad police took up an operation to detain and counsel teenagers and youth roaming on the roads during night time.

Three days ago, Mohammed Mustaq, 25, was murdered by a group of youngsters including a history-sheeter Mohd Sharoon Ghaji, 22, when the former was recording a video of the gang.

that was creating the nuisance and injured public on the road using knives.

The seven accused persons involved in the murder case were all roaming on the roads during the night and they ended up in killing Mustaq, who was passing on that road and stopped to take a video of the nuisance, said the Cyberabad police. “The prime accused Sharoon was a ganja addict and along with his gang he used to roam on bikes and involve in offences,” the police had said.

During the operation at Vateepally area under Mailardevpally limits on Saturday night, the police apprehended 122 youngsters, mostly aged below 20 years and took them into custody. Their parents were called and the youngsters were counselled before them.

Rajendranagar ACP Ashok Chakravarthy has made the youths to take an oath that they would not indulge in any illegal activities and stay back home during the night times. They were all set free after a warning.
