Hyderabad: Citizens from Andhra Pradesh have requested their names to be removed from the voters’ list in Kukatpally division.

“They have shown inclination towards Andhra Pradesh, and asked their names to be removed from the Kukatpally Housing Board area,” said a GHMC official.

Many voters from Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh are also not interested in enrolling their names in the voters’ list and those already registered want their names to be axed.

Around 1.38 lakh voters have been removed during the door-to-door campaign in the division. Furthermore, around 80,000 new entrants have found a place in the voters’ list in the division. More additions are expected in the near future. Nearly 1.4 lakh voters in the Serilingampally were removed due to migration and relocation.

More names are deleted this time though. “This is attributed to the current door-to-door campaign. Previously, deletions were not high. Now, we are using tablets to upload the details,” the GHMC official added.

Before removing a person from the voters’ list, officials visit their places thrice, contact neighbours and secure their phone numbers, the official further said.
