Border Guard Bangladesh troops yet to release third Indian fisherman

Vijay Bhan who was shot dead by the BGB troops along the International Border while he was returning from a flag meeting to secure his release.

Pranab Mondal (41), the fisherman from Sahebnagar at Jalangi of the district, was arrested by the Bangladesh Police after the BGB handed over him to them, according to BSF sources.

Kolkata/Berhmapore: The third Indian fisherman from Murshidabad, caught by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at the Indo-Bangla border on Thursday, is yet to be freed despite assurances to the Border Security Force (BSF) as senior BSF officers paid their tribute to head constable, Vijay Bhan Singh who was shot dead by the BGB troops along the International Border while he was returning from a flag meeting to secure his release.

Pranab Mondal (41), the fisherman from Sahebnagar at Jalangi of the district, was arrested by the Bangladesh Police after the BGB handed over him to them, according to BSF sources.

A senior official of the BSF South Bengal Frontier said, “During the flag meeting on Thursday the BGB informed that they have given him in custody to Bangladesh Police and assured to hand over him to BSF on Friday. But his arrival is still awaited.”
