Kannur: The Brennan College, Thalassery, witnessed unprecedented scenes on Thursday when ABVP restored a flagpost on the campus which its principal had removed the previous day.

The principal, P Falgunan, also complained that members of Sangh Parivar had threatened to kill him over the phone as well as in person.

The Sangh Parivar outfits had also held a protest march to his home Wednesday night, forcing him to seek police protection.

He told the police that the ABVP workers restored the flag post, giving death calls for him.

"I am very much afraid they are serious, and police should register my statement as my last words before death," he said. "Now, I am under police protection, and I am not at all feeling safe."

A large posse of police is camping on the campus as well as at his house.

The ABVP erected their flag post near that of the SFI in connection with the 'Vishal Commemoration programme' on the campus.

Though the leaders had promised to shift the flag post after the programme, they refused to do so despite repeated demands of the principal.  Later he directly intervened monitoring the removal of the flag post handing it over to police.

The Sangh Parivar outfits held a protest march to the house of principal at Vellozhukku near Dharmadam on Wednesday night.

BJP leaders E.V. Abhilash, Jinachandran, A. Anilkumar, ABVP state committee member Vishakh Preman, district president K. Renjith, district secretary Abhinav Thoonery and others led the protest march.
