Alappuzha: Accused cop remains unstable

The accused was admitted to the MCH on Saturday last with 40 percent burns.

ALAPPUZHA: The accused in the woman Civil Police Officer (CPO) murder case continues to battle for his life at Medical College Hospital (MCH), Vandanam here.

Dr R. Ramlal, Superinte-ndent, MCH, said that the condition of the accused remained unpredictable. He continues to be under close observation. “Condi-tion is still deteriorating”, Dr Ramlal said.

 The accused was admitted to the MCH on Saturday last with 40 percent burns.  According to the doctors, his internal organs have also been damaged due to burns, making his condition unstable.

  On Saturday Ambalap-puzha magistrate had recorded his statement. The accused had confessed to the magistrate that he committed the crime as a revenge to the rejection of his marriage proposal by Soumya.   

Meanwhile, funeral of Soumya will be scheduled only after her husband Sajeev, who is working abroad, reaches home on Wednesday.

It was on Saturday evening Soumya, 34, a CPO with Vallikunnam Police and mother of three, was set ablaze by Ajas, 33, a traffic cop with Aluva police, right  in front of her house near Naluvila Junction, Vallikunnam.
