Karnataka Swearing-in Ceremony Guest List: Will Opposition Leaders Unite?

Karnataka CM Oath-taking: The voting is over, the counting is done, the verdict is out and a face has been finally chosen to lead. Now, congress leaders are gearing up for the big day. The stage is set in Bengaluru for the oath-taking ceremony of the new Karnataka chief minister and his cabinet.

All the non-BJP ruled states had welcomed the verdict and were waiting to put on a united front at the Karnataka swearing in ceremony to send out a strong message to the BJP. However, reports state that this may not really happen.

According to a news report, INC has already sent out invites to key leaders across the country including NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, ex Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti, D Raja, Sitaram Yechury, Kamal Haasan and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar. However, we hear that several popular leaders have been dropped from the invitee list. The names include—senior names like Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao, Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, BSP supremo Mayawati and Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan.

Meanwhile, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is planning to give the event a miss due to other engagements.

Karnataka Chief minister-designate Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shiva Kumar will take oath at 12.30pm on Saturday at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. The duo flew down to Delhi to select Cabinet ministers.
