Vijayawada: YSR Congress has said that the antics of AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao cannot stop the party from pursuing justice as he has a history of poll-related violence, besides undermining the office of the Speaker, as he behaves like a TD worker.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, party general secretary C. Ramachandraiah said, “he is the most controversial politician and has a record of involvement in poll-related violence since long. There was a bomb explosion at his house during election time and the case was investigaged by the CBI.

Chandrababu Naidu had used his good offices under the Vajpayee government to bring him out of the case but his character has not changed ever since.”

The violence on the polling day (April 11) was perpetrated and provoked by him as he went inside the polling booth and stay put for hours there increasing tension among the voters waiting outside to cast their vote. When the doors opened, he had staged a drama with his shirt torn and the people could not understand why he had shut himself in the polling booth for so long, Mr Ramachandraiah said.

“When he was Speaker of the State Assembly, he had degraded the institution by behaving like a TD worker and gagged the voice of the Opposition leaders and members, in case of suspension of MLA R.K. Roja.

He did not act wisely when 23 MLAs defected and they were no disqualification. His comments that YSRC candidate Ambati Rambabu is not equal to his stature are derogatory and in fact, he was shunted out of his native Narsaraopet constituency. In 2014, he won by a very narrow margin,” he said.

On the transport of huge quantity of gold of TTD, seized in Tamil Nadu, he said the CM should speak out on the issue.
