Horticulture hub tag beckons Andhra Pradesh

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh is on its way to becoming a organic food production hub of the country by 2023-'24, said P.V. Ramana Murthy, director, Institute of Leadership Excellence and Governance.

Mr Murthy was speaking after inaugurating a two-day national workshop on best practices at AP Human Resource Development Institute, Bapatla, on Thursday.
AP is the only state in the country that has clocked an average growth rate of 11 per cent in the last four years despite facing droughts and cyclones, Mr Murthy said, adding that Anantapur, Chittoor, Kurnool and Kadapa districts are fast emerging as horticulture hubs.

He said that the national workshop is aimed at sharing of best practices in fisheries, animal husbandry, dairy from different states and evolving strategies for scaling up.

Mr Murthy said there is good demand for organic food across India.
