Bengaluru: The Election Commission officials have lodged a complaint against Bangalore South BJP candidate Tejasvi Surya for violating code of conduct.

Surya was accused of influencing voters on social media platforms on the polling day on Thursday. After casting his vote, Surya shot a selfie video outside the polling booth urging people to vote for BJP.

He also appealed to the BJP workers not to rest till the end of the day and make efforts to bring maximum number of voters to the booths.

After uploading the video on the social media platforms, Surya tweeted, "Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has entrusted this job in your capable hands. There are only few hours left until voting ends and I request each and every one of you to go door to door and request people to vote."

The EC's Flying Squad got to know of this violation filed a complaint against him at Siddapura police station under the provisions of Representation of People's Act.
