Chennai: Governor Purohit in his letter conveying apology to the woman journalist on Wednesday said he gave a pat on her cheek “considering you to be like my granddaughter” and it was done “with affection and to express my appreciation for your performance as a journalist, since I was also a member of that profession for about 40 years”.
Responding, the woman journalist tweeted telling the Governor she accepted his apology “even though I am not convinced about your contention that you did it (to) appreciate a question I asked”.
That tweet led to her being heavily trolled. One of the tweets said: “Of course you will not be convinced. Bcoz he apologised as a gentleman as soon as you played your cheap trick. I know you are feeling sad for not getting enough attention/publicity”. Several other tweets were even harsher on her.
