Bengaluru: Technical glitches in uploading internal marks have resulted in an abnormal delay in the 1, 3, 5 and 7 Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) external examinations, leaving thousands of students in the lurch. According to sources from affiliated engineering colleges in the city, these results are announced by the first week of April at the latest. “This year, VTU is busy correcting faulty software. All colleges have been directed to re-enter the internal marks of their students,” said an officer from the exams section in a local institute.

"According to the information we have received, university authorities have detected over lapping results for a few candidates while marks entered online of several candidates were deleted. To ensure that no candidate faces any problem, all colleges have been told to re-enter the internal marks. April 22 is the last date for the re-submission of internal marks for city colleges," he said.

This could be no more than teething trouble for the university, which has just started using its own software for examination management. “The process has been  handled so far by a software firm from Chennai,” he explained, adding that results are expected in the first week of May.
