Covid danger ahead, warn Kadapa health authorities
The number of cases reported from Kadapa district, which was in single digits for a long time, reached an alarming 46 cases on Friday
KADAPA: To check the second wave of Covid-19 from becoming a reality, Kadapa health authorities have warned people to strictly abide by Coronavirus prevention norms, including wearing of masks, ensuring social distancing, and using sanitisers or washing hands frequently.
The number of cases reported from Kadapa district, which was in single digits for a long time, reached an alarming 31 cases on Thursday. On Friday, the figure was 15 when reports last came in.
Covid-19 had posed a major challenge for the district in 2020. Thousands of people were infected and many died irrespective of their social status in Nellore, Chittoor, Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa districts. Following fears, everyone started following rigid virus-prevention norms, which enabled the district administration to control the disease to a large extent.
Soon, people lost any fear about Coronavirus and started disregarding safety measures. Now, 70–80 percent of people do not wear masks. Physical distancing has been given a go by. Markets and shopping centres, including malls, are crowded.
Though rising Covid-19 cases are being reported in the media regularly, people are yet to start taking precautions seriously.
Doctors warn that the second wave could turn out to be dangerous if people remain negligent. Kadapa district medical and health officer (DMHO) Dr. Anil Kumar told Deccan Chronicle that people of the district must not to take the increasing number of Coronavirus in many states light. He reiterated the warning the district could face a serious danger if people remain negligent and do not take the required precautions.
