Padma Shri Dr. Prasada Rao honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award

Hyderabad: The Indian Association of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS) conferred its lifetime achievement award on Nano Hospitals chairman Dr Dasari Prasada Rao, a former director of the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences.

At its 69th annual conference, the IACTS, the association of heart surgeons of India, held at Coimbatore. felicitated Dr Prasada Rao in recognition of his yeoman service and excellence in heart, lung and liver surgeries, spanning over four decades.

During his tenure as NIMs director, Dr Prasada Rao initiated several measures including developing advanced facilities, construction of the new building and setting up of state-of-the-art medical facilities like accident and emergency hospital, specialty hospital and stem cell facility.

He played an active role in acquiring 200 hundred acres of land for NIMS University at Bibinagar, which is shaping into the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2001.
