Bhopal: A private engineering college in Madhya Pradesh is building a satellite, scheduled to be launched into space by Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) in 2019.

An eight-member Isro scientist team led by the space body’s director Alok Srivastav reached Indore in MP on Friday to train the group which is making the mini-satellite.

GSIT, Indore, would be the ninth educational institute in the country to make a satellite to be launched into space by Isro, institute authorities said on Saturday.
The Isro team conducted a two-day workshop for the group and gave tips on the mechanism of launching satellites into space.

The group engaged in building the mini-satellite included 20 students and an equal number of GSIT and two science teachers from a local school.

The satellite’s principal objective would be to collect information and data to be used for research purposes in GSIT, college authorities told this newspaper.
However, the subject on which the data would be collected is yet to be decided by the Isro.
