This year income tax department has brought about any changes in tax filing exercise.

Hyderabad: The GHMC has issued red notices to City Central Mall, Big Bazaar at Himayatnagar and Topaz Building at Somajiguda for not paying property tax for over two years. A senior GHMC official said a mall houses over 150  stores, which are either sold or leased out by the developers. “Each store has a different property tax identification number. The GHMC has to issue tax notices to individual stores. Tax inspectors are unable to collect tax from City Central Mall and Topaz Building owing to this reason.

Now, the GHMC has decided to issue notice under Section 269 which empowers the GHMC to disconnect  water and electricity connections. The GHMC circle offices that have most commercial outlets have formed special  teams to identify defaulter malls and stores. The GHMC has said it will seal the premises of defaulters after March 31. The GHMC has collected over Rs 810 crore property tax till February, boosted in no small measure by demonetisation.
