Rajahmundry: Niti Aayog vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar gave assurance to try with the Centre and get Central aid for the speedy execution of Polavaram irrigation project.

Mr Rajiv Kumar, AP Planning Commission deputy chairman Kutumba Rao, AP minister for industries Amarnath Reddy and officials inspected the progress of the project work at Polavaram in West Godavari on Thursday.

The officials took an aerial view of the work in progress at the project from the Hill View.

They took a look at the project model and later inspected the ongoing work of various components including spillway, diaphragm wall and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rajiv Kumar assured efforts with the Centre to get its support for execution of the project and expressed satisfaction over the pace of works and vowed to visit the project again to find out the progress of works.
