Hyderabad: At polling booths falling in rural districts, it was observed that Anganwadi and Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers and teachers whose assistance was taken during polls, were found favouring certain candidates.

“There were a lot of complaints regarding defective voters list. The High Court was seized of the matter. At that stage the election process was set in motion. We have reason to believe that Election Commission has shown undue haste in conducting elections,” said Mr M. Padmanabha Reddy, secretary, Forum for Good Governance.

“This apart, the Supreme Court direction to candidates and parties to publicly declare the cases they were facing was not insisted on. Very few candidates followed it,” he said. The matter was brought to the notice of the Chief Electoral Officer by Election Watch a few days before polling, but no action was taken.”
