Defunct vehicles dissatisfies VMC chief

Vijayawada: Vijayawada municipal commissioner J. Nivas, on Thursday, made surprise visit to the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) vehicle depot near the railway station and expressed dissatisfaction with the officials for poor maintenance of vehicles. 

Mr Nivas, who noticed a huge number of vehicles defunct at the depot, expressed dissatisfaction over the ineffective measures taken by the depot officials. 

He directed drivers to attend duties by 5.30 am everyday and clear the dumper bins across various divisions.

The drivers brought their pending salaries issue to the notice of the VMC chief and he assured of making the payment soon after talking with the contractor.

Later, he inspected the vehicle movement registers and petrol and spare parts purchase records.
