Kannur: The centre has been forced to act  as the state has failed to ensure peace in Kannur, according to Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Rajiv Pratap Rudy.   Accusing the state of laxity, Mr Rudy said the BJP needs peace in Kannur, not violence.   He was addressing reporters here on Wednesday after visiting the house of C. Biju, RSS worker of Payyannur who was killed allegedly by CPM workers recently. “It is the duty of the LDF government and the chief minister to intervene to establish peace in the district,”  he added.

He also said that he would inform the Prime Minister about the state of affairs in the district. “The party would ensure all assistance to the family of Biju,”  he said.

Meanwhile, Biju’s family urged the union minister for a CBI investigation into the murder.  The relatives of Biju  also told him, “we have no faith in the ongoing police investigation.    It may  be recalled that the police had arrested two CPM workers in connection with the murder and they were remanded for 14 days.

Moreover,  CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had told the media on Tuesday that his party will not protect the accused in the case.
