Vijayawada: Asking every citizen in the country to turn into a whistleblower to save democracy which was under threat in the present dispensation, Chief Minister and TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi what were his achievements?

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr Naidu said, “I’m asking Modi what are his achievements? Economy has weakened, agriculture is in the doldrums and all autonomous institutions like CBI, ED, IT and now Election Commission have been destroyed. He has brought a bad reputation to the nation. He is safeguarding thieves and rolling out the red carpet to them to leave the country. Demonetisation is a farce. GST is a failure. The new tax system is good but the way it was implemented is a failure. Fuel prices have gone up. Rupee value has fallen.”

He also asked why the BJP and its allies were opposing the idea of counting 50 per cent of the VVPAT slips. He asked what justification did they offer to oppose VVPAT slips counting “unless they were committing some fraud”.

Mr Naidu said that he would make misuse of the EVMs and counting of VVPAT slips a national debate and meetings would be held across the country. He said such meetings had already been held in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. He said intellectuals, youth and the elderly would be involved in this national debate.
