Hyderabad: Political activity in the state will intensify on Monday when the Election Commission will notify the general elections and start receiving nomination papers from candidates for the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
As per the schedule announced by the EC, the last date for filing nominations is March 25. Scrutiny of nominations will be on March 26 and the last date of withdrawal is March 28. Polling will be held on April 11 and the results announced on May 23.
Officials at the State Chief Electoral Office said returning officers had been appointed to all 17 Lok Sabha seats and arrangements made to receive nomination papers.
A CEO official said the state had 2,98,57,690 voters, and enrolment of new voters would continue till March 25.
Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar conducted a video conference with officials regarding arrangements made by returning officers.
