Sanjeevaiah Park trees on fire from burning garbage

The trees continued to burn till Monday evening, adding to the smoke from the garbage heap.

As per the Pollution Control Board, the air quality index (AQI) in Paloncha is 150 to 180 while burning of garbage or releasing of fly ash from KTPS and it is 112 during normal times. The air quality is considered as poor if the AQI is between 201 and 300. DC Image/S. Surender Reddy

Hyderabad: Even as TRS leaders and workers, along with staff and officials from every department, took part in extensive tree planting programmes to mark Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s birthday, a fire burning since Sunday evening at a garbage collection point near Sanjeevaiah park resul-ted in some trees catching fire.

The trees continued to burn till Monday evening, adding to the smoke from the garbage heap. Smoke from the fire at the dump could also be seen wafting over a large private hospital on Minister’s Road. The fire was sought to be put out by the fire department.
