Kozhikode: Vice-president Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday urged political parties of the state to sort out issues ideologically rather than through violence.  He was delivering his inaugural address at a book release function of BJP leader P.S. Sreedharan Pillai marking his 40th year as a lawyer. “For any problem, violence is not an answer,” he said. “It will destroy the social fabric.”   Without naming any party, he urged people to isolate those who propagate politics of murder in the state.

His criticism came in the wake of the recent murder of S.P. Shuhaib, a Youth Congress leader in Mattannur, Kannur, a region notorious for political killings. “It is natural to have differences of opinion in politics. But you should sort them out through discussions and debates. We can sort them out ideologically, not through violent means,” he said.

CPM and its chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan who holds the home portfolio have been under fire for the failure of police to capture killers of Mr Shuhaib even after five days. He had earlier inaugurated the valedictory function of platinum jubilee celebrations of Rouzathul Uloom Association at Farook College.
