Jagtial: One person was killed and two others injured in a clash between two groups late on Sunday night at Prakashnagar in Korutla town of Jagtial district.

According to sub-inspector Anjaneyulu, three residents of Metpalli were trying to catch cats in the Prakashnagar area. Two women of the locality found their movements suspicious and questioned them.

The women were not convinced about their replies. Suspecting them to be thieves they raised an alarm, leading to locals gathering and attacking the three.

A section of people who witnessed the attack thought that members of their community were being beaten up. They joined the quarrel which led to two groups attacking each other. In the meanwhile, the three cat-catchers were attacked. One of them died while two were seriously injured.

Mr Anjaneyulu said the two injured persons are stated to be recovering at the hospital. A case has been registered and a few persons have been taken into custody.
