Chittoor: A daily wage worker in the Chittoor district of AP was shocked when he received a message about Rs 1.26 crore credited to his account in Andhra Bank branch at Gurramkonda on Wednesday. The relatives and friends of the worker Nazeer were elated and also astonished when he disclosed the bank balance to them. However, the elation evaporated after bank officers declared that a technical error led to the wrong message. They also released the bank statement to make things clear.

Branch Manager Afsar Ali said Nazir requested a bank correspondent of Saptagiri Grameena Bank Ms Sarada to deposit Rs 250 in his Andhra Bank account on December 14.

She deposited the amount as desired by Nazir, but Nazir received a message on his mobile that Rs 1.26 cr was credited to his account. After a while, he received another message that it was a technical error and the sum was not credited to his account.

Without noticing the second message, Nazir rushed to the bank after giving publicity to the deposit. Mr Afsar Ali told Nazir that no such amount was credited into his account and distributed the bank statement to the media.
