Government takes credit for tackling storm; Stalin lauds TNSDMA

The DMK chief also appealed to his party workers to join hands with the government in offering their services in the relief and rehab works.

Chennai: Revenue Minister R.B . Udaya Kumar told reporters that the government has tackled the cyclone situation successfully. "This was a challenging task...we are confident that we have faced it safely 100 per cent," he said, adding all post-cyclone tasks like cleaning up storm affected areas has begun. 

In a welcome gesture, DMK president M K Stalin  paid encomium to the State Disaster Management Authority (TNSDMA) for its precautionary measures in handling Cyclone Gaja. "The precautionary measures undertaken by tnsdma are worthy of appreciation", Stalin tweeted, adding that the government should lend a helping hand in all the efforts of the TNSDMA in handling the post-cyclone situation with the “speed of a storm”.
