Andhra Pradesh: VMC chief stresses on segregation of garbage

Vijayawada: VMC commissioner J. Nivas held a series of meetings with businessmen of various sectors and urged them to give priority to manage garbage. He held meetings with members of Petrol Dealers Association, Hotel Associations and business associates separately in the city. As most of the kitchen waste will mix in the drains, there is a possibility of clogging of drains, he said and urged the hoteliers to ensure segregation of waste into dry and wet components. He directed them to arrange compost units and produce fertilisers.

Speaking to representatives of the Petrol Bank Association, the Commissioner directed them to arrange two bins on the premises and maintain clean toilets. He has suggested that they take care of cleanliness of premises. The commissioner also met the owners of shops on the Eluru Road. He explained them about the segregation of garbage and warned them against dumping waste on the footpath. He suggested that they use common toilets and avoid open defecation.
