Chennai: Local MRTS train develops technical snag

Chennai: Hundreds of passengers were put to hardship after the local Mass rapid Transit System

(MRTS) train service along the Chennai beach - Velachery stretch was disrupted due to a technical snag on Friday.

According to Southern Railway sources, a MRTS train moving from the Velachery station to Chennai Beach developed a technical snag at around 7:45 am. The Pantograph (overhead equipment conveying current to electric train from overhead wires) failed resulting in the slowing down of the train as it approached the Triplicane station.

The technical snag affected hundreds of office goers and commuters. The railway authorities rectified the fault by around 8:45 and normalcy was restored after an hour.
