Foreign tourist arrivals up by 13.4 per cent in March: Tourism ministry

FTAs during the period January-March 2018 were 31.27 lakh registering a growth of 9.9%.

According to latest tourism statistics of the tourism ministry the nationals from Bangladesh (21.66%) continue to dominate the volume of arrivals.

Meanwhile, Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTA) grew 13.4 % in the month of March 2018, compared to the same period last year. FTAs in March 2018 were 10.26 lakh as against 9.05 lakh in March 2017.

As per the figures released by Union Tourism Ministry there has been nearly 10 % growth in FTAs during the first three months of the year, January to March, 2018. FTAs during the period January-March 2018 were 31.27 lakh registering a growth of 9.9%.

During the month of March, 2018 a total of 2.46 lakh tourist arrived on e-Tourist Visa as compared to 1.46 lakh during the month of March, 2017 registering a growth of 68.8%.

The highest growth in arrivals registered were from Bangladesh (19.59%) followed by UK (11.56%), USA (10.79%), Russian Federation (3.89%), Sri Lanka (3.72%), Malaysia (3.36%), Canada (3.35%), Germany (3.19%), China (2.67%), Australia (2.62%), France (2.58%), Japan (2.11%), Thailand (2.00%), Singapore (1.64%) and Afghanistan (1.60%).
