CM Pinarayi Vijayan to inaugurate post-flood projects today in Ernakulam

This includes handing over the keys of the 75th house rebuilt after floods and the 1001 house built under the Life Mission.

KOCHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is set to inaugurate various post-flood reconstruction projects in Ernakulam district on Sunday at Chendamangalam Paliyam Government Higher Secondary School.

This includes handing over the keys of the 75th house rebuilt after floods and the 1001 house built under the Life Mission. The other projects to be inaugurated are Navik equipment distribution for the safety of fishermen and distribution of financial aid for the rebuilding of Nutrimix unit at Choornikkara.

A total of Rs 100 crore was spent under Life Mission to construct the houses. Most number of houses in the state under the scheme was built in Ernakulam district. In the first phase of the project, work on half-completed houses was taken up and a total of 1055 out of 1068 houses were completed using Rs 24.38 crore.

Navik equipment will be provided for 500 boats of fishermen for their safety. The equipment will warn fishermen who venture out into the sea on weather as the equipment can forecast weather in 1500 km area. It will also give information about fish availability in the sea and the international sea line. A total of 50 fishermen will be given it free of cost 450 fishermen will pay Rs 1500 each for it.

The cheque for rebuilding of Nutrimix unit at Choornikkara will be handed over by the Chief Minister on the occasion. The unit was manned by 10 Kudumbashree units. Local self government minister A.C. Moideen, MPs Prof K.V. Thomas, Innocent and Joyce George and other MLAs from the district will attend.
