Cabinet expansion raises temperatures in Warangal

Warangal: The TRS government is all set to expand its Cabinet on February 19. MLAs who are anticipating a ministerial berth from Warangal have their fingers crossed.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, Aroori Ramesh, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar and Redya Naik are said to be in line of being chosen as ministers.

In the previous TRS government, three leaders from Warangal were picked to serve in the Cabinet. While Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary and Azmeera Chandulal faced defeat in the Assembly elections, Mr Srihari who was elected to the Legislative Council is expecting a key position in the Cabinet. It is to be seen how many leaders from Warangal will be inducted to the cabinet this time.

Six-time MLA Errabelli Dayakar Rao is confident of securing a ministerial post this time. He holds the rare distinction of being an undefeated leader but was never given a chance as a minister even during his stint in the Telugu Desam party.

Mr Srihari’s experience and seniority may not go ignored as his presence in the Cabinet is seen as handy especially when Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is keen on playing an active role in strengthening the Federal front in the run-up to the Parliament elections.

From the days of agitation for a separate statehood, Mr Dasyam was recognised as a key leader from Warangal. The four-time MLA is now expecting a role in the Cabinet. His closeness to K.T. Rama Rao is expected to promote his chances of becoming a minister.

Another six-time MLA from Warangal D.S. Redya Naik who previously served as a minister in the Congress government name is said to be considered for the post of Deputy Speaker.

Aroori Ramesh who won with a record majority from Wardhannapet is also said to be in the race to be chosen as a minister. He added  that the Khammam unit had expressed its view to party national president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana TD president L. V. Ramana.

“The Mahakutami won five Assembly seats in Khammam LS constituency. The TD vote was perfectly transferred to the Congress. Because of it, three MLAs won from Palair, Madhira and Kothagudem”, he said, adding that it was just left to the  Congress to leave the  LS seat to TD.
