One in every 22 tests is COVID positive in Telangana

Deaths from Covid too appear to be rising from one or two a day that is normally declared by the health department

Hyderabad: The Covid surge in Telangana is continuing with more cases being found every day from fewer tests. Simultaneously, the number of people getting admitted to hospitals is rising.

Just five days ago, on January 12, one Covid-19 positive case was found for every 33 tests. On Sunday, one case was being found for every 22 tests for which results were available.

With regard to hospitalisation, compared to 1,673 Covid patients in hospitals on January 12, the number stood at 2,158 on Sunday, as per data released by the Telangana state health department.

Deaths from Covid too appear to be rising from one or two a day that is normally declared by the health department. On January 12, and 13, two people lost their lives to Covid, three persons on January 14 followed by two on January 15. On Sunday, the day's deaths again rose to three.

Meanwhile, the department said that on Sunday, the state recorded 2,047 new Covid-19 cases with 1,174 of them coming from Hyderabad and the rest of the GHMC area. Medchal-Malkajgiri and Ranga Reddy districts continued to report cases in the three digits, their daily caseload on Sunday standing at 178, and 140 respectively.
