Hyderabad: The Chief Electoral Officer’s attempt to rebut this newspaper’s exclusive, Tally mismatch: Are winners losers?, boomeranged as the figures he provided did not match with the data on the official website of the Election Commission of India.

The figures quoted by the CEO in the clarification regarding total valid votes polled by all candidates and the figures displayed by the ECI on its official website do not match.

For example, the CEO’s release regarding the December 7 polling percentage says the total votes polled in Kodada Assembly constituency was 1,92,008.

In his clarification, the Chief Electoral Officer said that the total votes polled were 1,93,991. In the clarification, he said the total valid votes in Kodada were 1,92,648 but the Election Commiss-ion of India website quotes the figure at 1,93,888.
