Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM state secretariat on Friday decided not encourage entry of young women in Sabarimala in the wake of lack of clarity in the five bench verdict delivered on Thursday.

The secretariat which met at the AKG Centre felt that a decision on allowing young women should be taken only after getting further clarity on the judgment. The party is of the opinion that any decision encouraging the entry of women from the restricted age group will not only result on provocation but will also give an opportunity to Sangh Parivar outfits to unleash violence.

CPM secretariat member and law minister A.K. Balan said that even the court had no clarity on the verdict. “If any one tries to deliberately create problem, he will be dealt with stringently by the government. The government will not allow  anyone to expoloit the situation,” he said.

With over 30 women having registered online for darshan, the party wants the administration to deal with the situation deftly. Efforts will be made to persuade the women who plan to visit the hill shrine to abandon their attempt in the wake of Supreme Court verdict. They will try to convince the women about the lack of clarity in the apex court judgment and requested to refrain from visiting the shrine.

The CPM, however, is against using any force this time. The priority should be on convincing the women. However, the party is of the view that those elements who are coming to the shrine to deliberately create problems should be tackled strictly.
