Mumbai: Sheena Bora murder accused Indrani Mukerjea on Friday argued for her release on bail citing that she was suffering from an irreversible medical condition that needed proper treatment by a neurosurgeon.

Representing Indrani, her lawyer Tanveer Ahmed argued before the court that her health was such that she cannot be treated in jail and required better facility and specialist doctors.

This is Indrani’s fourth bail application on health grounds.

Advocate Ahmed argued before the court that Indrani had suffered a suspected brain stroke in September 2018, and could suffer another stroke anytime.

Warning the court that it would be a lengthy process to take her to a state-run hospital in the event of a stroke in jail, Ahmed argued that lack of timely medical intervention could end up having an adverse effect on her health.

“Her medical condition is not improving. Her path is not moving towards a cure. It is moving towards further deterioration,” he said.
